The GESTOCI depots in Abidjan-Vridi and Yamoussoukro are high-risk areas. Because they are not immune to a fire which represents the first disaster on an oil site. Aware of the sensitivity of its facilities, GESTOCI has decided to prevent rather than cure by organizing, each year, exercises to simulate the occurrence of a fire on its facilities. Objective, to test its disaster prevention and reaction system. This simulation took place both in Abidjan and Yamoussoukro, on Wednesday December 11, 2019, in the presence of the Managing Director of GESTOCI, Ibrahima Doumbia, and the Deputy Managing Director, Nina Keïta. At the end of the exercise on the Abidjan-Vridi facilities, the general manager of GESTOCI, Ibrahima Doumbia, reassured that the safety device for a rapid reaction to fires is ready and effective: “Our equipment is in good working order. The analytical capacity of our teams is at a good level and the system is well sized to deal with a disaster, in particular a fire ”. For Ibrahima Doumbia, the aim of this exercise is to protect people, facilities and the environment. “GESTOCI is a high risk pregnant. It is our duty to protect the facilities. It is important to do this exercise to improve your safety. Safety is priceless at the level of the installations ”, he maintained. For her part, the Deputy General Manager, Nina Keïta, followed the exercise of GESTOCI Yamoussoukro. She was delighted with the quality. This actual simulation focused on an alert of the occurrence of a fire on the GESTOCI facilities in Abidjan-Vridi and Yamoussoukro. GESTOCI's security protocol immediately triggered an internal operation plan. It consisted for the rescue teams to initially cordon off the area concerned and evacuate non-essential personnel while attacking the flames. The perimeter was cordoned off and non-essential personnel evacuated. GESTOCI's internal teams were supported by their partners: the Ivorian refinery company (SIR), the National Company of Petroleum Operations of Côte d'Ivoire (PETROCI), the Group of military firefighters (GSPM), the gendarmerie, the police, the Ivorian anti-pollution center (CIAPOL) and the Urgent Medical Aid Service (SAMU). After 70 minutes of operation, the intervention teams came to the end of the fire and no loss of human life was recorded.
